This week I want to talk about motivation. Motivation is what drives us to reach our goals. It’s the fuel we need to keep going. Everyone has different motivation when it comes to weight loss. People swear by different diets and workouts. I’m here to share what works for me. Remember no one is alike, what works for me may not work for you in the same way.
What makes it fun?
First of all, I joined an amazing gym. The people are super friendly and supportive and the equipment is just awesome. I am one to definitely get bored while working out. You’re stuck on a machine for 30-45 minutes and your scenery does not change. I would rather be watching a movie or catching up on my favorite shows… Well… wish granted!
There is a personal TV on each Treadmill and Elliptical machine! I have watched Cinderella, Tangled, Full House, a Walk to Remember (no pun intended) and Boy Meets World. Sometimes I check the TV guide at home at determine what time I want to work out for the day to catch a show. As soon as I turn on the TV time just flies by. I once ran for 45 minutes and my TV shut down so I added an extra 10 minutes to my workout just to finish my movie. This makes working out seem more like entertainment instead of a boring task that I HAVE to do. Now it’s something that I WANT to do.
Who motivates me?
A show that has proven to be my greatest motivation is The Biggest Loser. I love to follow the journeys of people who are extremely overweight. It makes me realize that if a 400 pound man can lose half of his body weight with exercise and eating right then I can lose 25 pounds. Watching their struggles in the gym helps motivate me to give it my all. I can relate to their stories; which makes this show very emotional at times. If you have never seen the show I really recommend it! It comes on every Monday from 8:00pm-10:00pm EST.
Another motivator is this blog! I have set a goal for myself to come back every week and report on my weight loss. It would be incredibly embarrassing if I told you all I was going to lose all this weight and then quit in the first month. When I went to my boyfriend and said, “Ok this is it; I’m really going to do it this time.” He told me that I always say that and what makes this time different; telling me that was a motivator itself. I must prove him wrong, so here I am!
Reward Reward Reward
Treat working out like a job! No one likes to work for free. Treat yourself for your hard work. Set little goals for yourself and when you achieve them pretend its pay day. For example, every time I work out longer than I plan to I reward myself with ice cream. You may be saying WHAT? Yes, on Weight Watchers you can have ice cream! A fun fact you may not know is that McDonald’s vanilla soft serve ice cream is low fat. A cone from McDonald’s only comes out to 5 WW points and boy is it worth it.
More low cal and amazing tasting sweet treats are Weight Watchers ice cream bars and cakes. The cool part is that you do not have to be a member of WW to enjoy these. You can buy them at your local grocery store. I highly recommend the Giant Latte Bars and the Carrot Crème Cakes for only 2 points each!
Food doesn’t have to be your reward. I also bought a necklace I have been wanting for months. Now it feels as though I have earned it and no “Buyer’s remorse!!” If there is something you have been dying to buy but don’t think you need, set a goal, achieve it and then you can know you worked hard for what you want.
My Progress
Starting = 146.6

Come back next week to see my progress and I’ll report on my entire meal schedule for the week so you can get an idea about what I am eating to lose.
